In a tragic occurrence, a girder launching machine fell on the Samruddhi Express Highway, which was still under construction, near Shahpur in Maharashtra’s Thane on Tuesday morning, killing at least 17 persons and injuring three more.According to reports, the equipment was used in Phase III of the Samruddhi Express Highway’s development.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is on the scene with two teams, and search and rescue operations are in progress.
According to NDRF, there is a possibility that many persons are trapped below the wrecked building.
On the Samruddhi Expressway, which is still under construction, “today an unfortunate incident occurred at Shahpur Tehsil of Thane District in which one Crane fell on a Slab of a Bridge in which two teams of NDRF are working on the site,” it stated.
According to authorities, a total of 17 dead corpses have been found so far, and three injuries have been recorded.
According to the early information, the crane fell to the earth from a height of 200 feet. It was being utilized to raise the bridge’s girder while it was being built.
The cause of the machine’s collapse could not yet be determined.

The incident has been condemned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who also stated that every effort is being made to ensure that people impacted get the right help.
The next of kin of each dead person will get Rs. 2 lakhs as a gift, while those hurt in the tragedy would receive Rs. 50,000 in aid, according to the prime minister.
