An assortment of stray canines outside the Mumbai Airport received their own Adhar Card badges for identification as the Aadhaar Card evolved become a crucial piece of identification for every Indian.
20 stray dogs were reportedly given identity cards with QR codes on Saturday and were hung around their necks. This was done near the local airport.
These “Aadhaar” cards include a QR code that may take users to a database containing all of their data. When this code is scanned, data about the dog’s identity, the feeder’s contact information, immunization records, and sterilization records are revealed.
“The QR code tagging was done for dogs outside the airport as a pilot project, and we will see how this can be taken forward,” said Dr. Kalim Pathan, the head of the BMC’s veterinary health services.
20 stray dogs were tagged by a group of regular feeders, who also supplied the identity cards. Through a project called “pawfriend. in,” an engineer from Sion named Akshay Ridlan created the gadget.
WHAT BENEFITS ARE THESE IDENTITY CARDS?
“The QR code tag may assist in reuniting a lost or moved pet with its family. It can also assist BMC in keeping track of a centralized database of stray animals in the city, said Ridlan.
BMC also administered vaccinations to the canines outside Terminal 1 of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport during the procedure.
The canines were brought near as a BMC veterinarian delivered the vaccination by one of the feeders, Sonia Shelar, who feeds around 300 stray dogs everyday, including those outside the airport.
Dogs from outside the airport were reportedly being evacuated earlier.
