According to CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s new social networking platform, Threads, reached five million sign-ups in only four hours of debut. A new social media site called Threads was created for posting text updates and participating in group chats.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, said, “Just passed 5 million sign-ups in the first four hours..” The Threads app may be downloaded from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store for no charge.
You may publish brief posts or updates of up to 500 characters in length using Threads, which was developed by the Instagram team. Up to five minutes of video, images, or links may be used. Users of Threads may connect with friends and artists who share their interests, including those they follow on Instagram, in a manner similar to that of Instagram.
According to Meta, when users under the age of 16 (or under the age of 18 in certain countries) join the app, their default setting will be a private profile. Additionally, they have control over who may mention them or respond to them in threads. By pressing the three-dot menu, users may also unfollow, ban, restrict, or report a profile on Threads, and any profiles they have blocked on Instagram will also be prohibited on Threads.
Users will experience microblogging similar to Twitter, which suggests that Meta Platforms has been preparing to directly compete with Elon Musk’s site. There are buttons for like, reposting, responding to, and quoting a “thread,” as well as counters for how many likes and responses a post has gotten.
As with all of our products, safety is a top priority for us, and we’ll uphold Instagram’s Community Guidelines for content and user interactions. Since 2016, we have put more than $16 billion into developing the teams and technology required to safeguard our users. We are still committed to improving our market-leading integrity initiatives and investments to safeguard our community, according to a statement released by Meta.
