Suresh Gopi, a politician from Kerala, expressed regret to a female journalist on Saturday for touching her shoulder, stating that he had acted in a “kind” and considerate way. However, according to ANI, the lady is considering taking the former Rajya Sabha member to court.“
It is important to honor her sentiments if she felt negatively about my actions. If my actions caused her to feel hurt, I sincerely apologize to her. The actor who is now a politician apologized in a Facebook post on Saturday.
The lawmaker is said to have put his hand on the woman’s shoulder and called her’mole’ (daughter) during a Friday interaction with media in Kozhikode. He put his hand back on her shoulder when the reporter wriggled back and asked another inquiry.
According to ANI, the journalist was considering taking legal action against the lawmaker, saying that his apologies seemed to be an excuse.
For “misbehaving” with the journalist, Gopi will be the target of a complaint from the Kerala Union of Working Journalists to the Women’s Commission.
“We’ll take further suitable legal action. The announcement also said, “This is an insult to all women who have chosen this profession.”
“As shown in the video, he put his hand on a journalist’s shoulder when she posed a question he didn’t like, and she took it off. The video makes it evident that the hand had to be taken off even after this was done again. KUWJ said in the announcement that “suresh gopi’s behavior is wrong, regardless of the rationale behind it.
The journalist revealed to The Indian Express that she was traumatized by the whole incident and was startled by his behavior. She said she wasn’t there for a “friendly conversation,” but rather “on duty.”
As a female journalist who has been employed for more than 15 years, I felt compelled to address it. I therefore made the decision to pursue legal action,” she said.
In 2016, the Indian President nominated Gopi to the Rajya Sabha. October 2016 saw his election to the Bharatiya Janata Party. He ran from Kerala’s Thrissur seat in the 2019 general election, but Congress candidate TN Prathapan defeated him.
