Aaditya Thackeray, the head of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), criticised the Maharashtra administration led by Ekanth Shinde on Thursday night for the assassination of Sena corporator Abhishek Ghosalkar, claiming that the state is experiencing “lawlessness like never before.”
“There has never been more lawlessness in Maharashtra. The failure of the law and order situation as it stands today is unfathomably awful. Is the system even in place to safeguard the average person? Is there a dread of the law? Aaditya Thackeray posted on X, the former Twitter platform, saying, “Administration has completely collapsed to being absent.”
On Thursday, Mauris Noronha, also referred to as Mauris bhai, shot and killed Abhishek Ghosalkar, the son of former MLA Vinod Ghosalkar, in the Dahisar neighbourhood of Mumbai, following a personal argument. The incident happened not long after the two organised a Facebook live event to mark the end of their animosity and their unity for the advancement of the local community, the Borivali suburb of Mumbai’s IC colony.
According to accounts, Noronha shot Abhishek Ghosalkar three times before taking his own life. When the cops arrived, Abhishek Ghosalkar reportedly wasn’t dead. After being taken to the Karuna hospital in Borivali, the Sena (UBT) leader passed away from his wounds.
In connection with the firing incident, the Mumbai Police have opened two distinct cases: one is a FIR for the murder of Ghosalkar, and the other is an ADR (Accidental Death Report) about Mauris Noronha’s suicide.
The incident happened a few days after a BJP MLA was seen on tape shooting at a leader of the Eknath Shinde faction inside an Ulhasnagar police station, sparking concerns about the state of law and order in Maharashtra.
Priyanka Chaturvedi, the head of the Shiv Sena (UBT), criticised the Maharashtra administration as well. “I’m devastated and at a loss for words on the egregious disrespect for law and order in Mumbai. Disgrace to the illegal administration, just how many more Balis will sate your lust for power? Maharashtra will never forget or be able to forgive,” she said on X.
Sanjay Raut, the leader of Uddhav Sena, also criticised the state administration and called for the resignation of deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis in response to the incident.
Congresswoman Supriya Shrinate questioned Maharashtra’s law and order situation, claiming that it had disintegrated. What’s taking place in Maharashtra? Leader of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav), Abhishek Ghosalkar, was fatally shot by three gunshots while live streaming on Facebook in Dahisar, Mumbai. Abhishek is the son of former MLA and Shiv Sena politician Vinod Ghosalkar. Mahesh Gaikwad, the chairman of the Eknath Shinde Sena city, was shot four times by BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad at a police station in Ulhasnagar, Maharashtra, just two days prior. This triple-engine government of Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar has collapsed in terms of law and order, the speaker declared.
“If this is not ‘Jungleraj,’ then what is?” inquired Srinivas BV, head of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC).
