Aqua Line: Mumbai’s first underground Metro to begin from July 24

Share

Vinod Tawde, the national general secretary of the BJP, said on Wednesday that the Aqua Line of Metro 3, which is Mumbai’s first underground metro, will open on July 24.

Vinod Tawde wrote in his X post, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji promised to make life easier for people in Mumbai, and he will keep his word.” The first metro line in Mumbai, the Aqua Line, will open on July 24. This will speed up the city even more.

The Aqua Line will connect major areas of the city like Colaba, SEEPZ, and Bandra. The government says that there will be 27 stops along the 33.5-kilometre path from Aarey Colony to Cuffe Parade.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority constructed Line 3, in contrast to Line 1, which benefited from the assistance of a business partner, Reliance.

The Indian government said in a post on X that the new Metro line “will transform urban transit, making travel easier across Mumbai’s streets and reducing traffic congestion.” The Aqua metro line will be able to carry 17 lakh people every day. Three thousand people can get on the metro at the same time.

Reports from The Economic Times say that the whole project will cost ₹23,136 crore. A big part of the project’s money came from the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

In Mumbai, lines 1, 2A, and 7 are all up and running right now. Other lines are still being built. The addition of line 3 will make it easier to get around the city, especially for people coming from South Mumbai. In May, the metro ran easily from Aarey Colony to Dadar during a series of test runs that went well.

Which stations are covered by the Aqua Line?

Stations covered by the Aqua Line are 27 stations, of which 26 are underground.
