Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra looks buoyed by BJP’s failure in Karnataka as it has vowed to bring tiny parties together and mount a unified opposition to the governing party in the 2024 elections, according to an NDTV report.
According to a source citing NCP leader Jayant Patil, the MVA, which consists of the Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP, and Congress, will determine a seat-sharing plan before to the Lok Sabha and Maharashtra assembly elections, which are scheduled for the second part of the next year.
“MVA leaders, including Uddhav Thackeray of Shiv Sena (UBT) and state Congress chief Nana Patole, attended the meeting,” the statement said.
The newspaper reported Patil as saying, “Like Karnataka, I am sure the MVA will win the people’s trust in Maharashtra and will work with more strength.”
According to the newspaper, he said that MVA officials have chosen to speak with other tiny parties in the hopes of presenting a unified alternative to the country’s existing political system in 2024.
Before the Lok Sabha and Maharashtra assembly elections, the three MVA constituents will convene and devise a seat-sharing mechanism. We are beginning gradually and methodically,” he was reported as saying.
He said that the MVA’s presently postponed “Vajramooth” public rallies would resume after the summer’s heat has passed.
“We have halted the rallies due to the state’s increasing heat. Once the heat breaks, we’ll start detaining them, he reportedly remarked.
Patil said that these rallies may be held in June, and that if it starts to rain before then, we will hold them inside.
The BJP, which is now in power, and the Janata Dal (Secular), which is headed by former prime minister HD Deve Gowda, gained 66 and 19 seats, respectively, in the Karnataka elections, the results of which were announced on Saturday.
