Asian U18 Athletics Championships: Bapi Hansda Wins Silver In The 400-meter Hurdles And The Girls’ Relay Team Wins The Medley Gold

On the fourth and final day of the Asian U18 Athletics Championships, India won one gold, five silver, six silver, and two bronze medals, with the girls’ team taking first place in the 400 medley relay.

The Indian boys’ team placed second, while the Indian girls’ team took home the gold in the medley relay.

At the Asian Youth Athletics Championships on Sunday, Bapi Hansda made history by becoming the first Indian to ever win silver in the men’s 400-meter hurdles competition.

Bapi had a timing of 51.38 seconds, comfortably his best. Additionally, his timing was faster than the 51.96-second old Championship Record. Bapi’s timing in the championship game would have been sufficient to win gold in earlier tournament iterations.

Bapi has only competed in three races before and was racing in the 400-meter hurdles event for the fifth time overall.

Mallick, Rezoana Women’s 200-meter silver medalist Heena. She finished the race in 24.38 seconds. She got a 400-meter gold medal.

In the heptathlon, Mohur Mukherjee takes home the silver medal, and Ritik came in second with a discus throw of 54.03 metres. In the boys’ 2000-meter steeplechase, Sumit Rathi finished second in a time of 5 minutes, 58.69 seconds.

Anupriya earned bronze in the girls’ shot put with a throw of 16.37 metres, while Abhay Singh competed against Chinese sprinters to place third in the 200-meter final in third place with a time of 21.39 seconds.
