The Indian cricket team was defeated by Australia by 209 runs in the final of the World Test Championship played at The Oval. After this defeat of Team India, many veterans have given their reactions. Everyone from the captain to the coach pointed out the shortcomings of Team India. Now the first reaction of BCCI President Roger Binny has also come to the fore. The BCCE Chief indicated in his statement that Team India was defeated on the first day itself. The way the pair of Steve Smith and Travis Head brought the team back was commendable. Both had played century innings and had a partnership of 285 runs.
Roger Binny spoke to the media after the match was over and said that the difference between India and Australia was the partnership between Head and Smith. Apart from that, Team India challenged the Kangaroo team. With this win, Australia became the first country to win all the ICC trophies around the world. Earlier the team had won the ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup, and Champions Trophy and now the title of World Test Championship has also been added to this list.
What did the BCCI chief say?
After the match, Roger Binny said that we had lost the match on the first day itself. All the equations of this match changed because of the huge partnership that came from Australia. If you take away that partnership, the game was completely both ways, but it was the 285-run partnership between Head and Smith that made the difference. Let us tell you that after breaking this partnership, the Indian team tried to come back, but then the team got disappointed by the batsmen. In the first innings, the Indian team was reduced to 296 and Australia got a lead of 173 runs in reply to 469. Chasing a target of 444 in the second innings, the team lost by 209 runs.
On the last day, this kangaroo bowler overturned
On the fifth day of the game, Team India needed 280 runs with 7 wickets in hand. Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli stood on the crease. Both started the day well. After spending more than half an hour, Virat once again repeated his old mistake and teased the ball outside the off stump. Scott Boland was the bowler. This was his second wicket in this innings after dismissing Shubman Gill. Then in the very next over, he got Ravindra Jadeja out for a duck and gave India two back-to-back big blows. It was from here that the match changed and Indian hopes faded away. In the end, Nathan Lyon and Mitchell Starc sent the remaining five players to the pavilion. Lion took 4, Boland 3 and Stark took 2 wickets.
