Best Bakery Case: Bombay High Court Acquitted Two Accused In The Case Of Burning 14 People Alive In 2002

The Bombay High Court has given a major decision on Tuesday. The court on Tuesday acquitted two accused in Gujarat’s Best Bakery case. In the 21-year-old case, Harshad Raoji Bhai Solanki and Mafat Manilal Gohil have been acquitted in the case.

As per information, the Best Bakery case is of March 2002. The Best Bakery located at Hanuman Tekri in Vadodara, Gujarat was set ablaze by the mob. 14 people including the Sheikh family who ran the bakery were killed in the arson. The mob also ransacked the bakery before setting it on fire. The Gujarat police took strict action and registered a case against 21 people. However, due to evidence in 2003, a court in them.

In 2004, the Supreme Court referred the matter to the Maharashtra court for reconsideration. A Maharashtra court, hearing the case in February 2006, sentenced nine accused to life imprisonment. Eight accused were acquitted by the court. While four accused were absconding, they were arrested in 2013. The aggrieved party was unhappy with the court’s decision for the second time as well, so they again filed a petition in the Bombay High Court.

In a hearing in 2012, the High Court released five of the nine life convicts. Two of the four arrested accused died. After this, the remaining two accused Harshad Raoji Bhai Solanki and Mafat Manilal Gohil, who were lodged in jail. The court also released them on Tuesday.
