While the AAP administration maintained that all safety precautions were in place, the BJP accused the panic buttons on buses in the nation’s capital of being a fraud that involved millions of rupees.

The Delhi BJP president, Virendra Sachdeva, said on Tuesday that the Delhi Transport Department had perpetrated a fraud involving millions of rupees in the name of panic buttons in response to media reports that the Anti-Corruption Bureau is auditing panic buttons.

The lieutenant governor will be seen by a team headed by Sachdeva, according to Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, leader of the opposition in the Delhi Assembly, and a document describing this “multi-crore panic button scam” would be presented.

He urged that Kailash Gahlot, the transport minister, resign from his job while the probe is ongoing.

As for whether the proper technical processes were followed while performing the audit or whether the people carrying out the audit were technically competent to do so, the Delhi government said that it is “not aware of any formal audit being carried out by the ACB.”

The statement said, “Further, no reactions or inputs from Delhi government officials regarding any audit findings were sought, which they are required to do before submitting any report to higher authorities.”

The statement emphasized that the Delhi government has always placed the highest focus on the safety and security of the passengers.

“All required security measures are in place and working as intended. The command and control center at Kashmere Gate has been crucial in guaranteeing the safety of all passengers, but particularly that of ladies riding in DTC and Cluster buses, the statement stated.

All Delhi buses have GPS systems, emergency buttons, and IP-based CCTV monitoring cameras. It was emphasized that the control centers routinely monitor the live feed of the bus’s CCTV system and take necessary action as required.
