According to his family members, a BJP member reportedly poisoned himself to death when the party refused to provide him a ticket for the urban local body elections in the Shamli area.
Deepak Saini (26), a contender for the position of chairman of Kandhla Nagar Palika, had asked the BJP for a ticket, but the party declined to support him.
Saini once belonged to Kandhla Nagar Palika.
The death of Saini was verified by Satyendra Tomar, the BJP’s Shamli district president.
The victim’s family claims that he poisoned himself on Sunday as a result of the BJP denying him a ticket. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead there.
No police case has yet been filed.
