New Delhi: The Delhi BJP stated today that Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, is “shaking in fear” and is not going to appear before the Enforcement Directorate because he is aware that he is the “kingpin” of the purported liquor policy scandal.
The BJP responded after Mr. Kejriwal wrote a letter response labelling the notice “illegal” and ignored the third summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Delhi excise policy matter.
BJP national spokesman Gaurav Bhatia responded strongly, stating, “Outright dishonest and sinister Arvind Kejriwal is shaking in fear and making one after another lame excuse to skip ED summons.”
“It wouldn’t be incorrect to state that Arvind Kejriwal is fearful today due to his knowledge of his impending arrest, his role as the kingpin, and the fact that he lacks responses to the questions posed by the ED.” At a news conference held at the party headquarters, Mr. Bhatia explained to reporters that this is the reason he is attempting to avoid the legal system.
The head of the Bharatiya Janata Party said that no one has ever “ordered” an investigation agency to revoke its summons in the history of independent India.
However, the depraved and evil Arvind Kejriwal orders the ED to revoke its summons. “Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, you are not above the law,” he blasted, adding that the investigation authorities had the authority to act “in accordance with evidence” to combat corruption.
According to Mr. Bhatia, Mr. Kejriwal ought to have gone to court to ask for relief if he believed that the ED had summoned him because of a purported “political vendetta”.
Why didn’t he go to court earlier if the ED’s summons were intended to further political objectives? Mr. Bhatia said, “He knows the truth—that he is the mastermind behind the liquor scam—so he is unable to get the confidence to face the court.
“Such dramas will not help because (Arvind) Kejriwal knows that handcuffs are coming closer to him,” said Mr. Bhatia.
He said that AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and former deputy chief minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, who had previously been detained in connection with the matter, were just his “puppets”.
Bhatia said that Mr. Kejriwal, who had previously spoken about ending corruption in India, had turned into a “corrupt termite” in the political system and believed he was beyond the law.
“Arvind Kejriwal, you have mastered the art of deceit, corruption, propaganda and this has become synonymous to you,” he said.
Regarding the accusations made by the AAP that the BJP-led Centre is planning to arrest Mr. Kejriwal in order to prevent him from running for office in the Lok Sabha elections, Bhatia said that investigative agencies are “honestly biting corrupts like eagles, seeking from them details of people’s hard earned money.”
The BJP leader urged the AAP national convenor to “let the truth come out,” saying, “If you have not done any dishonesty, what is there to be scared of… (Arvind) Kejriwal should have appeared before the ED and answered its questions.”
Mr. Bhatia also questioned the opposition parties that make up the INDIA bloc’s “silence” on the subject of corruption.
According to the BJP politician, the inquiry agencies have been given a “free hand” to operate freely and combat corruption, as the administration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has zero tolerance for it.
