Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation starts Demolition of illegal Dargah in Mahim coast
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation began the demolition of the illegal construction around the Mazar on Thursday that has illegally come up off the Mahim coast in Mumbai.
Mumbai City Resident Collector Sadanand Jadhav said that the mazar and the structure around has not been built legally on revenue department land.
He further said that a six-member team was made for its demolition with the support of personnel from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and Mumbai police.
Apart from this, many labourers and a JCB machine were also made available on the spot. Collector and DCP have themselves reached the place.
Jadhav further said that The BMC provided machinery for pulling down the illegal structure and Mumbai police gave security. Other officials said the team formed by the collector had visited the site in the morning, after which demolition procedures started.
The Demolition started a day after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray had warned about the structure in his address Padwa Melawa speech at Shivaji Park on Wednesday evening. He demanded demolition of the illegal dargah and said that if it is not knocked off immediately, then his party would build a huge Ganpati temple at the same spot.
