A dilapidated two-storey building has collapsed in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. 10 people are feared trapped in the building. After getting the information, the police team including fire brigade has left for the spot.
A warehouse was built in the collapsed building in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra’s Thane district, trapping many people living and working in the complex. Avinash Sawant, head of the regional disaster management cell, said rescue and relief operations have been launched as many people are feared trapped under the debris.
Sawant said the ground plus two-storey building in Vardhaman compound collapsed around 1.45 pm. A family of four lived on the upper floor, while laborers worked on the ground floor. He said, fire team from Bhiwandi, Thane and other nearby areas have been deployed for the search and rescue operation.
One Man killed in Nagpur
A security guard was killed when a part of a slab fell on an under-construction college in Nagpur on Saturday, a police official said. The incident took place at School of Scholars (SOS) college in Wanadongri area of Nagpur, an official of Hingna police station said. The victim Ravindra Umredkar was on duty at the time of the accident. He got trapped in the debris and died on the spot, the official said. A case of accidental death has been registered, he said.
