Three youths got intimate with a businessman from Shivdi. After a good introduction, he said that he had US dollars. Said to sell these dollars below the market price. He gave a few dollars to the merchant to make sure of this. The merchant confirmed his willingness to buy dollars. Accordingly, the businessman met the three with a cash amount of around two and a half lakhs. They also gave the merchant a wad of dollars and left. When the merchant opened the bundle after some time, he found pieces of waste paper in it. He lodged a complaint at the Shivdi police station. Under the guidance of Senior Inspector Balurao Ghagare of Shivdi Police Station, a team of Assistant Inspector Snehal Singh Khule and Sub-Inspector Avinash More started searching for the accused who cheated the trader.
The police identified the accused by verifying the mobile phone and CCTV footage used by the accused while committing the crime. The accused was found to be from West Bengal. Accordingly, a police team went to West Bengal and arrested Safikul Sheikh. During his interrogation, the mobile number of his accomplice Rafiq Jamshed Sheikh was obtained. But Rafiq was frequently changing his place. As soon as he came to know that he was at Bhandup, the police team reached the place. Taking advantage of the slum area, Rafiq fled to Mahim.
As the police were on the trail, there was a possibility that he might have escaped by train. Accordingly, the police searched the railway going to West Bengal. Police tracked down Rafiq who escaped from the train going to Danapur from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. Both have been arrested and their other accomplice is still absconding.
