On Monday, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan remarked that the Union government’s insistence on having the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana emblem displayed in front of homes built via state government programs was improper.

Speaking to the media at this location as part of the Nava Kerala Sadas, Vijayan said that every person has a fundamental entitlement to government support for housing.

In response to press reports that the Center had insisted on having the PMAY emblem displayed in front of homes built as a part of the Kerala government’s LIFE Mission initiative, the chief minister spoke.

The Kerala government’s main initiative, the Life Mission project, builds houses for the destitute.

“The state contributes the remaining amount, making the total for PMAY-G, to the Center’s contribution of Rs 72,000. The Center is now demanding that homes built as a part of the Kerala government’s LIFE Mission initiative have the PMAY emblem displayed in front of them.

“Everyone’s fundamental right is to be housed. Using it to promote the Prime Minister and the Union government is improper, according to Vijayan.

He added it is a major concern that there are efforts to destroy the project, which aims to provide housing for everyone.

“It was intended to build 71,861 residences as part of the Life Mission initiative this fiscal year. A contract was signed for the construction of 1,41,257 homes. 15,518 of which have already been finished.

However, there are conscious efforts to disseminate the word that the initiative is a failure. Building more homes than anticipated is a response to those disseminating such misleading information, Vijayan continued.

Over 3.56 lakh residences have been built and given to beneficiaries under the Life Mission scheme since 2016, according to government officials.

There are more than 1.25 lakh residences being built. They added that neither the state government nor the Life Mission emblem are present on the homes constructed as part of the initiative.

Regarding the current Nava Kerala Sadas, the chief minister said that 14,232 submissions from Kasaragod had been received by the authorities. He claimed that extra counters would be put up to take complaints from the public in light of the large throng. As part of the continuing outreach effort at several locations, a considerable number of people showed up to voice their criticisms and frustrations before the CM and his cabinet colleagues.

According to the Left administration, the outreach initiative aims to solve people’s issues while simultaneously showcasing the state’s accomplishments that are “hidden” from the general public.

The outreach campaign will come to an end in Thiruvananthapuram’s Vattiyoorkavu constituency on December 23.

Concurrently, the prime minister sent his congratulations to the Australian cricket team for winning their sixth World Cup.

Vijayan wrote the following on ‘X’: “@Worldcupfinal2023, congratulations to the Australian cricket team on their sixth world cup victory. With a dominant performance throughout the competition, led by @ImRo45, India advanced to the final, as seen by the incredible accomplishments of @imVkohli & @MdShami11. I hope that our group will be able to rise bravely and win more fights in the future.”
