The event happened on October 17, 2018, in a northern neighbourhood of the city, at the residence of one of the two accused. According to the official, the accused Coast Guard employees are 23 and 30 years old, and the girl is a Class 10 student.
The girl was by herself in their home on the day of the alleged sexual assault after returning from her coaching lesson. Her father was on night duty, and her brothers and mother had all attended a function.
Living in the same housing complex, the 30-year-old accused is said to have knocked on the teenager’s door and informed her that his wife had called her to their home for some chores.
The minor saw nothing strange since both families got along well and knew each other well.
A second person, who was waiting inside the accused’s apartment, gagged the girl as soon as she arrived and dragged the youngster to the bedroom. The official claimed that the two then sexually assaulted the girl.
Subsequently, according to the official, both guys threatened to kill the kid and her father if she told anyone about the sexual assault. According to the official, the accused, 30, would also knock on her door while she was by herself.
The girl needed medical attention since she was depressed and couldn’t handle the ordeal. More than two months after the sexual attack, in December 2023, she confided in her mother and told her story. The girl’s mother informed her husband, and he filed an internal complaint with the Indian Coast Guard.
The youngster wrote to top Coast Guard authorities on March 8, and they assisted her in filing a police report that resulted in the two accused being taken into custody.
Both the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and Indian Penal Code Section 376DA have charged the two men with “gang rape on women under sixteen years of age.” The official said that both had been placed under police custody on remand.
