NCP leader Sharad Pawar and state deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar meeting in private is a subject of worry for his party, according to Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole on Tuesday.
Sharad Pawar is a member of the Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and Nationalist Congress Party coalition known as the Maha Vikas Aghadi, although his nephew Ajit Pawar left the NCP last month to join the Shiv Sena-led BJP administration under Eknath Shinde.
In response to a question from reporters on Pawar Senior’s covert meeting with Ajit on Saturday in Pune, Patole said, “It is a matter of concern for us and we do not approve of the meetings taking place between the Pawars.” However, the Congress’ senior officials will talk about this issue. It would not be proper for me to discuss it more as the INDIA alliance will also be talking about it.
The Congress has made the decision to work with anybody who wants to challenge the BJP. He said that there is not a shred of truth to the rumors that Congress is considering running for Lok Sabha without Sharad Pawar.
While this was going on, Sharad Pawar declared in his native Baramati that while some party members had taken an alternative course, “once they realized the situation, their stand may change.”
He assured the crowd that we would stick to our course no matter if they changed their stance. I urged the people in Maharashtra to choose a candidate. Furthermore, I am unable to advise them to support a candidate that we have consistently opposed, Pawar senior said.
He made the announcement that he will host a public demonstration in Beed on Thursday.
