The Supreme Court on Thursday said that on June 30 last year, calling the then Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray by the Governor to prove his majority in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly was not correct. The court, however, refused to restore the status quo ante, saying Thackeray had resigned before the floor test. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have reacted to this decision of the court. Devendra Fadnavis said that this is the victory of democracy and democratic process. We are satisfied with the decision given by the Supreme Court.

“present government of Maharashtra is completely constitutional”

Devendra Fadnavis said that those who used to speculate on the decision of the Supreme Court saying that our government will fall, today they have got the answer. He said that the plans of the Aghadi have gone awry. Uddhav Thackeray could not become CM again. The bow and arrow election symbol will also remain with Shinde. He said that the conspiracy of Maha Vikas Aghadi has failed. The Supreme Court has accepted that the present government of Maharashtra is completely constitutional.

“Speaker has full right of disqualification”

Fadnavis said that justice has prevailed in the judgment that came from the Supreme Court today. Many things have come to the fore in this court order. First of all the chances of getting the MVA government reinstated are over. Uddhav Thackeray cannot become CM again. The court has left full authority to the Speaker to disqualify the 16 MLAs. The Speaker has full authority to decide on this. Devendra Fadnavis said that Uddhav Thackeray raised questions on the entire government of the Shinde government, which was declared wrong by the Supreme Court.
