The cyclonic storm Biparjoy, which originated from the Arabian Sea, has taken a dangerous form even before hitting the coast of Gujarat and is rapidly moving towards Kutch. In the next 24 hours, it will hit the coast of Gujarat. Strong winds are blowing due to Biperjoy, whose speed is increasing continuously.
During the last 6 hours, it was moving in North direction with a speed of 3 kmph. This morning the storm lay centered 280 km west-southwest of Jakhau Port (Gujarat). And it is centered 290 km west-southwest from Devbhoomi Dwarka. The storm lay centered about 350 km west-northwest of Gujarat coast Naliya, 350 km west-northwest of Porbandar and about 340 km south-southwest of Karachi in Pakistan. This storm is continuously moving forward.
The storm will cross Saurashtra and Kutch while moving northeast. It is likely to make landfall at Jakhau Port (Gujarat) between Mandvi (Gujarat) and Karachi (Pakistan) on the evening of June 15.
In view of the impact of Biparjoy, a high alert has been issued in Gujarat and Maharashtra. This storm can take a very severe form, for which the Meteorological Department is continuously giving alerts. Teams of NDRF and SDRF along with the local administration are ready to deal with every situation, while Indian Navy, Air Force, Army have been kept in standby mode in Kutch district. If needed, help will be taken in relief rescue work. Biperjoy’s landfall is expected to be here, in such a situation it is considered to be more risky here.
Keeping in view the impact of Biparjoy, the Railways has also made complete preparations. 69 trains have been cancelled. 32 trains have been short-terminated while 26 trains will be short-originated. Sumit Thakur, CPRO of Western Railway gave this information. Meanwhile, Railway Board Chairman and CEO Anil Kumar Lahoti and other board members are closely monitoring the situation arising out of Biparjoy.
