Cyclone Biparjoy: Western Railway Cancels Seven More Trains As A Precautionary Measure

Mumbai: Western Railway has decided to terminate the service of some more trains before the destination as a precautionary measure in the backdrop of cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ expected to hit Gujarat on Thursday evening. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Western Railway said that keeping in view the safety of passengers and seven trains have been canceled after the cyclone is expected to hit the Gujarat coast, three will be stopped before their destination. While four other trains will be run from stations other than their fixed stations.
The release said that 76 trains have been canceled due to the cyclone, 36 trains will be stopped before their destination, while 31 trains will be run from other stations instead of their scheduled stations.

Let us tell you that Cyclone Biparjoy, which rose from the Arabian Sea, is expected to hit mainly Jakhau Port in Kutch district of Gujarat by Thursday evening. Winds can blow at a speed of 150 km per hour when the storm arrives. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for the sea coast of Saurashtra, Dwarka and Kutch due to the storm. During this, the possibility of heavy rain has also been expressed. There is alert in 7 districts and more than 450 villages of Gujarat.

The state government has evacuated more than 74,000 people from 7 districts near the sea coast in Kutch-Saurashtra and sent them to shelter homes. 19 teams of NDRF have been deployed in the state. Due to this storm, there is a possibility of damage in Kutch, Dwarka, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Morbi, Rajkot and Junagadh. Heavy rain is expected in Saurashtra and North Gujarat. Due to Biperjoy, 9 states are also on alert. These include Gujarat, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa.
