The race to get ahead on the train to fame and power is a bigger pandemic in India than Covid. Political mud-flinging has taken over the idea of growth, justice and fair investigations. After the issue of the FIR filed by Amruta Fadnavis was raised in the Assembly yesterday, it wasn’t considered a situation of concern for all but a chance to put the Deputy Chief Minister and his family to shame and cause disturbance in whatever small way possible. In reality, the content of the FIR seems like a warning to many people in the public domain. Priyanka Chaturvedi, Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha from Uddhav Thackeray’s party chose to use Twitter for another chance to nudge the opposite camp.

The most highlighted comment received on her tweet was, “Would Ms Priyanka Chaturvedi put up the same post on Twitter if any other woman was going through such a situation? If anyone from her party or clan would have been cheated by someone, would she doubt that person’s integrity or pacify and support?” She has accused AmrutaFadnavis for using free products from the blackmailer. Women supporting women has been an absolutely winning proposition for the growth and success of women across the globe. But that seems to be a missing element in the Indian political system at this point in time. The interest is greater in pulling down the Deputy Chief Minister than in figuring out how a woman was conned by a fraudster and what could be done about it. Netizens tried to counter Ms Chaturvedi’s statements about using freebies by explaining in comments that all influencers use products, clothes, and jewellery provided to them by brands and small entrepreneurs and return after promoting it. And that it is not called free use of products but influencing and promotion. Women disgracing women on Twitter is a regular phenomenon in politics
The police have taken action on the whole issue and legal recourse follows. However, the political minds are working to use the issue to defame the ruling party and the DCM. Many suggest the wife of DCM to not socialize or have a career of her own. She is also suggested to keep a low profile so that she does not create problems for her husband. The public is losing the plot that even today, a wife of an Indian politician is expected to live an abnormal, anonymous life without aspirations and identity. With the Supreme court verdict just around the corner, any news about the opposite party is considered a treasure.
