According to a senior police officer, an elderly lady complained that she had been sexually attacked in the early morning hours by an unidentified individual.

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) sent the local police a notification in relation to the alleged occurrence earlier in the day.

According to the panel, the 85-year-old woman, who was sleeping alone in a slum, said that a guy broke into her living space around 4 am and sexually assaulted her.

She has also said that the defendant attempted to strangle her and hit her in the face. In its notification to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) region, the panel said that there are injuries all over her body, including her intimate areas.

The panel has asked for a copy of the FIR filed in the case as well as information on whether the police have a list of all the senior residents in the district who live alone.

By September 5, the DCW has requested an action taken report on the situation.

“Today, our hearts ached. A guy violently raped an 85-year-old lady who was living alone in a jhuggi in Delhi. He used a sword to savagely strike her, injuring her many times.
