Donald Trump claims that the new citizenship scheme allows US corporations to hire Indians under the “gold card” visa

Under the recently announced “gold card” citizenship program, US President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that American businesses can now recruit Indian graduates from US institutions. Considered a major benefit for Indian students, the action follows Donald Trump’s announcement of the “gold card,” a route to US citizenship for affluent foreign investors ready to commit $5 million on Wednesday.

During his first Cabinet meeting, Donald Trump expressed confidence the gold cards would “sell like crazy.”.

News agency ANI reported, “A person comes from India, China, Japan—lots of different places—and they go to Harvard, the Wharton School of Finance, they go to Yale, they go to all great schools, and they graduate number one in their class, and they make job offers, but the offers are immediately rescinded because you have no idea whether or not that person can stay in the country.”

The US president devised the gold card system to help with the problem. According to Trump, a corporation might purchase a gold card and apply it for these recruitment needs.

“I want that person to remain in the nation; these businesses may go purchase a gold card and utilise it for hiring purposes. The corporation is also paying down the debt we are going to pay off with that money at the same time; I believe the gold card will be utilised not only for this but also for this. Companies will utilise them, after all,” Trump stated.

Trump said jokingly, “I hope you liked it,” when questioned about the gold card proposal.
The US president further said that the immigration system has not been administered or monetised correctly. He also bemoaned the situation of businesses that wish to employ non-American pupils but do not proceed since immigration status is a subject of ambiguity.

Trump also said that businesses operating outside would have to pay tariffs; those that operate in the US do not have to pay them.

“There is no tariff; you are in the nation. He added, “If you’re out of the country, you have to pay tariffs and that’s going to be a great investment, but we have to be able to get people in the country.”

Trump declared he sought “productive” Americans and those USD 5 million would pay off US debt and generate employment.
