Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), said on Monday that he will meet Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, during the latter’s visit to Mumbai on May 11. They both agreed that the nation needed a “alternative” to the BJP-led administration.
Prior to travelling to Nipani in Karnataka, where he would address a rally in support of his party’s candidate in the Assembly elections that will take place in the adjacent state on May 10, Pawar, who announced his intention to resign as NCP leader on Friday, was chatting with media in Solapur.
Nitish Kumar, the head of the Janata Dal (United) and the chief minister of Bihar, is scheduled to visit Mumbai on May 11, according to a message Pawar received. Even if I don’t have all the information with me, we shall meet. According to our assessment, the nation needs a government that is not the BJP.
“Those who wish to contribute to it, be it Nitish or Mamata (West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress leader), in my view we all need to work together for the same,” the NCP leader added.
Elections for the Lok Sabha are scheduled for the following year. Additionally, Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress, two of Pawar’s political partners and members of the Maha Vikas Aghadi, indicated they had not discussed sharing a Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra.
“The Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders will get down and confer before deciding on a seat-sharing scheme. Making a claim on a certain Lok Sabha seat before such meetings is pointless, he added.
