During The Mumbai Train Incident, An RPF Officer Was Detained

According to authorities, an RPF jawan opened fire aboard the Mumbai-Jaipur Superfast Express, killing four people, including a Railway Protection Force ASI.

The RPF soldier was taken into custody. According to CPRO Western Railway, an RPF constable by the name of Chetan Kumar fired shots from his service weapon at ASI Tikaram Meena, three other passengers, and the constable when the train was travelling to Mumbai.

“A regrettable occurrence involving the Mumbai-Jaipur Superfast Express has been reported today. Chetan Kumar, an RPF constable, started shooting at his ASI Tikaram Meena, as well as three other passengers, during the incident. A preliminary inquiry indicates that he started shooting with his official firearm. The defendant was taken into custody. Although the cause of the fire is yet unclear, we are looking into it. CPRO Western Railway stated.

Divisional Railway Manager Neeraj Kumar said that the information regarding the event was obtained around 6:00 AM while he was speaking to the media about the train fire incident. He said that the relatives of the dead were called promptly after the tragedy occurred and a railway official arrived at the scene.

“We learned that an RPF constable who was on escorting duty opened fire at roughly 6 am. There have been four shooting deaths. Our railway official arrived at the location. Contact has been made with the families. Ex-gratia will be granted, according to Kumar.

According to Western Railways, ASI Tika Ram would get an ex gratia payment of Rs 25 lakh.

Western Railways said, “Ex Gratia: 25 lakh, that includes Railway Surksha Kalyan Nidhi: 15 lakh, Funeral expense: 20,000, DCRG: 15 lakh (approximately), and GIS: 65,000 (approximately) to be paid to ASI Tika Ram as ex-gratia.”

Sumit Thakur, the chief PRO for Western Railway, spoke about the event and stated, “In a regrettable incident aboard the Jaipur-Mumbai Superfast Express, a police constable fired at his colleague ASI Tika Ram, who was in charge of escort. This has not yet been assigned a cause. The deaths of ASI Tika Ram and three other civilians are regrettable. RPF/Bhayandar arrested the constable. Further research is being done.

A Railway Protection Force (RPF) jawan shot and killed four passengers on a moving train from Jaipur to Mumbai on Monday morning in Maharashtra, according to authorities.

The Jaipur-Mumbai Central Express Train reached Palghar Station in Maharashtra before the policeman known as CT Chetan opened fire and fired at four passengers, including an RPF assistant sub-inspector (ASI), according to Western Railways.

According to reports from Western Railways, the accused cop and his firearm have both been taken into custody. According to RPF representatives, the incident happened in the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Superfast Express’ B5 carriage (Train No. 12956).

“It was reported on train no. 12956 at 5.23 on 31.7.23 that there had been a firing in B5 coach,” the RPF said in a statement. It was established that CT Chetan, who was on escort duty, had shot on ASI Tika Ram, who was in command of the escort. Three civilian deaths have also been confirmed, in addition to ASI, after the train landed in BVI, according to preliminary information. Senior DSC BCT is in route to the location.

“Police have located the policeman, and DCP North Government Railway Police has been notified. To be followed by a thorough report,” the RPF statement continued.
