Farmers’ Leaders Arrested; Delhi Police On Alert; Wrestlers’ Maha Panchayat

Prior to the Sunday protesting wrestlers’ march towards the new Parliament building, thousands of police officers were stationed at the boundaries of Delhi, Lutyens’ Delhi, and several tiers of barriers had been erected.
Wrestlers opposing the new Parliament building announced on Saturday that they will host a women’s Maha Panchayat in front of it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform the ceremonial opening.
As a result, the Khap Panchayat leaders and farmers are expected to join the protesting wrestlers’ march, thus the Delhi Police have set up barriers close to ITO road, the Tikri border, and the Singhu border region.
The protesting wrestlers, headed by Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, and Sakshi Malik, have called for the arrest of Brij Bhushan Singh, president of the Wrestling Federation of India, who they claim has harassed numerous female wrestlers.
Top news on Delhi’s Maha Panchayat for wrestlers:
1. In Ambala, Punjab, farmers’ organisations are prevented from travelling to Delhi for the Mahila Mahapanchayat in front of the new Parliament Building in New Delhi. Gurnam Singh Charuni, the head of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, was one of the farmers’ leaders who was imprisoned at Kurukshetra, Haryana. The majority of the female-dominated groups had stopped for the night at Gurudwara Manji Sahib on NH-44 when a sizable police presence transformed the location into a fortress.
From Rohtak, Bhiwani, Hisar, Jind, and other regions of the state, Khap commanders were apprehended. Leaders of the Binain Khap were taken into custody at Jind’s Narwana Railway Station.
2. Large trucks parked on the roads leading to the location were also blocked by police, who also locked the gurudwara’s entrance and exit gates. The government has been warned by BKU sections like Charuni and Shaheed Bhagat Singh to let the groups to migrate or face demonstrations.
3. According to the police, no demonstrators will be permitted to approach the new Parliament building since authorization to host the mahapanchayat has not been obtained.
4. According to farmer activist Rakesh Tikait, hundreds of farmers from Uttar Pradesh would assemble at the Ghazipur border crossing with Delhi at 10.30am on Sunday to show their solidarity for the wrestlers who are protesting. Additionally, farmers will cross other border crossings into Delhi.
5. at order to maintain peace and order, police have asked the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to provide them the requisite authorization to set up a temporary prison on Sunday at the MC Primary Girls School at Kanjawala Chowk, Old Bawana.
