Ameet Satam of the BJP has accused the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation of corruption, and Maharashtra’s chief minister Eknath Shinde has requested an investigation (BMC). In his address, Satam detailed the money-laundering practices of firms located in Kolkata and identified two suspects.
Satam said, “In the case, the money was siphoned off and laundered via several firms formed in Kolkata,” during a debate in the Legislative Assembly. The names Nandkishor Chaturvedi and Shridhar Patankar are used often in businesses.
The BJP leader demanded an investigation into the situation and said, “I have already presented all the facts to the house and also supplied the documentation. By the anti-corruption agency, an investigation should be done, and offenders should receive punishment. If public funds are being stolen, someone ought to answer for the corruption.
The Chief Minister acknowledged receiving the message and agreed to launch the investigation. “Ameet Satam brought up a concern about corruption inside the BMC. We will look into the situation objectively and bring the offenders to justice,” he said.
In the Shiv Sena-run BMC, the BJP has continued to be active in its pursuit of corruption charges. When the Sena was in charge of the municipal organization, Satam brought up a number of corruption accusations against the BMC. In order to take action and stop the abuse of public funds, he has contacted the BMC commissioner and the state government on several times.
