The MPMLA court of Varanasi has held the mafia and former MLA Mukhtar Ansari guilty in the Awadhesh Rai Murder. The decision on what punishment will be given to them will come after 2 pm. This whole matter is from 32 years back. In this, if they are found guilty, they can be punished from death penalty to life imprisonment. Security was increased in the court after the hearing of the case.
In the last one year, Mukhtar Ansari has been sentenced in four cases. But in all these cases, the murder of Awadhesh Rai is important because if found guilty, Mukhtar Ansari can be sentenced to life imprisonment. Mukhtar Ansari can appeal against this in the High Court.
This incident dates back to 1991, when on August 3, 1991, Awadhesh Rai was murdered outside his house in Lahurabir, Varanasi. The armed criminals did not give Awadhesh Rai a chance to recover. The miscreants in the van shot Awadhesh to death by firing indiscriminately. Younger brother Ajay Rai was also there at the time of the incident. Chetganj police station is just a short distance from where the murder took place.
Awadhesh Rai’s brother and Congress leader Ajay Rai made Mukhtar Ansari and former MLAs Abdul Kalam, Bhim Singh, Kamlesh Singh and Rakesh prime accused in the case. Mukhtar Ansari was produced through video conferencing in the MPML Court of Varanasi on Monday. The case of the remaining four accused is going on in Prayagraj court.
