Girl Dies Due To Electrocution, 2 Of Her Friends Injured; Case Filed For Negligence On Private Power Company

A seven-year-old girl was electrocuted to death while two of her friends were injured when they came in contact with an electric wire while playing outside their house in Mumbai’s Vakola. The incident took place on Friday night in Davari Nagar area, an official said. The deceased girl Sahreen Shaikh was playing outside her house with her friends- Tanishka Shinde and Vaishnavi Malve at around 10.30 pm.
When Sheikh tried to lift an iron angle used in construction work, he was electrocuted as the metal object was in contact with a live wire, which broke and fell on him, an official from the Vakola police station said. He said that two friends of the girl, who are of her age, were injured in the incident. Seeing the accident, passers-by tried to save the girls and some local residents took the minors to a nearby hospital, where Shaikh was declared brought dead. The officer said that two of his friends are undergoing treatment.
The police have registered a case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 304-A (causing death by negligence) against unidentified employees of a private power company involved in the incident, the official said. No one has been arrested yet. Further investigation is going on in the matter.
