Ace all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was fired as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain last year and is said to have left the team hotel in Mumbai, is said to have had a lengthy and honest conversation with Mahendra Singh Dhoni that looks to have repaired his relationship with the squad.

Last year, Jadeja was appointed captain of the team before to the commencement of the Indian Premier League (IPL), but he was replaced by Dhoni halfway through the competition after failing to produce the expected results. Jadeja seemed to be unhappy by his dismissal as captain and Dhoni’s severe remarks, but a conversation with Dhoni, the top executive for CSK, as well as CEO Kasi Viswanathan has reportedly addressed the “air of confusion.”

Before arriving in Chennai to join the club, Jadeja allegedly had contact with CSK officials. Jadeja reportedly recognized when the franchise elders told him that serving as captain was becoming too much for him and was affecting his play. Nevertheless, the franchise is reluctant to provide any information on Jadeja’s one-on-one meetings with Dhoni and Viswanathan.

Last season, the all-rounder had a miserable campaign, scoring just 116 runs at an average of 19 and taking only five wickets while conceding more than seven runs per over.

“I believe Jadeja was aware of his upcoming captaincy last season. I watched over his work throughout the first two games and gave him more time. I demanded that he make his own choices moving forward and accept responsibility for them. When you are made captain, a lot of expectations are made of you. Yet as the chores multiplied, it began to impair his thinking. During a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 1 of last year, Dhoni observed, “I believe captaincy hampered his preparation and performances.

The franchise has posted on social media, nevertheless, that the atmosphere at the camp is positive. The team released a video of Jadeja and Dhoni reuniting during CSK’s practice on March 23. The clip showed the two lifelong friends joking about and having fun. Afterwards, the team shared a picture of Jadeja in a silhouette wearing a CSK shirt on Instagram with the statement “Tell the world, Thalapathy (The Leader) is here.”

Jadeja had a knee injury at the Asia Cup and has been out since September 2022 until making a successful comeback in the just finished Test and ODI series against Australia. In 210 IPL games, Jadeja has scored 2,502 runs with a strike rate of 127.59. In addition, he has taken 132 wickets. He has participated in two stages of the CSK franchise. From 2012 and 2015, the first phase took place. In 2018, as CSK returned to the IPL after a two-year suspension, he joined the team once again. He is still a member of the Yellow Brigade.

“Jaddu is good. He’s glad to be back with the squad and is eager to succeed,” said his mother. He is excited for the season, a CSK representative informed Cricbuzz.
