Uddhav Thackeray, the head of the Shiv Sena (UBT), said on Sunday that V D Savarkar is his “idol” and pleaded with Congressman Rahul Gandhi to desist from “insulting” him.

He said that in order to defend democracy, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition of the Sena (UBT), Congress, and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was established. He urged working cooperatively for democracy.

In addition, Thackeray said that intentional efforts were being made to irritate Rahul Gandhi while speaking at a rally in the Muslim-dominated textile town of Malegaon in the Nashik region of northern Maharashtra.

What was said by Rahul Gandhi?
Gandhi was expelled from the Lok Sabha on Friday, one day after being found guilty of defamation in a case in Surat, Gujarat.

Rahul Gandhi remarked on Saturday at a news conference in Delhi on his disqualification, “My name is not Savarkar, my name is Gandhi, and Gandhi does not offer an apology to anyone.”

What was said by Thackeray?
“Savarkar is our hero, and his insult will not be accepted if we must unite to defend our democracy,” the speaker said. Savarkar spent 14 years in a confinement in the Andaman Islands and endured unspeakable abuse. The sorrows can only be read. It represents a sacrifice, he remarked.

“I want to remind Rahul Gandhi that we have united to safeguard the democracy and the Constitution of our nation. But the act of provoking you is intentional. Democracy will vanish if we let this opportunity pass wastefully. The last election would be held in 2024, he said.

Thackeray claimed to have backed Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Rahul Gandhi did a good job of speaking at his news conference yesterday. He highlighted pertinent concerns concerning who is entitled to the $20,000,000,000. But the administration is unwilling to respond, he said.

Gandhi said at his press conference on Saturday that it is still unclear who paid the Rs 20,000 crore for the Adani shell companies and what the link between the businessman and the prime minister is.

In an attack on the governing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Thackeray said that people without ties to the nation’s independence fight were trying to destroy democracy.

After losing the party name and emblem to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Thackeray addressed his second rally in the Ratnagiri area here, saying he was battling to preserve freedom and democracy.

It’s not about me regaining my position as chief minister, he said.

Thackeray further claimed that investigation authorities questioned Lalu Prasad Yadav’s pregnant daughter-in-law to the point where she passed out and questioned NCP leader Anil Deshmukh’s six-year-old granddaughter.

“Police will be after you if you criticise those in power,” he said.

India is not Modi. He questioned, “Did our liberation warriors give their life for this.

The former CM questioned how the BJP’s upright members could stand by while corrupt individuals from other parties were accepted into their ranks.

Attacking CM Shinde, Thackeray claimed that while he doesn’t regret leaving the position of chief minister, a decent administration was dishonestly overthrown.

He said that despite the difficulties farmers are having, the Shinde administration is doing little to help.

Thackeray said that while his party’s name and emblem had been stolen from him, traitors would never be able to take away the public’s respect and admiration for him.

He said that during the Covid-19 epidemic, his administration had taken many actions to help farmers and the Malegaon textile industry grow.

In Malegaon, he remarked, “I had spoken to the religious leaders during the pandemic, and everyone here cooperated with the government initiatives to control the spread of the virus.”
