IMD Predicts Rain For Delhi This Weekend, ‘Yellow Alert’ Remains In Effect For Mumbai

On Saturday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a “yellow alert” for Mumbai and forecast light rain for the nation’s capital, Delhi.
Delhi awoke this morning to overcast conditions.

This weekend, the national capital is expected to have mild to moderate rain, strong gusts, thundershowers, and nearby locations.

The ‘yellow’ signal that was issued on Thursday in Mumbai and its surrounding districts is still in effect as of at least Monday, September 18, despite some rain in the city.

IMD has said that today is predicted to see sporadic heavy rains in coastal Karnataka.

According to the most recent IMD bulletin, rain is predicted to occur in the Northeastern states during the next week.

On Monday and Tuesday (September 18-19), light to moderate scattered to widespread rainfall, thunderstorm activity, and sporadic heavy rains are all highly possible across Assam and Meghalaya. IMD forecasts sporadic rain and thunderstorms for Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from Sunday through Tuesday (September 17–19).

According to the IMD, through Sunday (September 17), scattered heavy rains will also occur in southwest Madhya Pradesh and east Rajasthan.

“Over the next five days, there are not expected to be any notable changes in maximum temperatures over most of the country,” it said. A squally wind at a speed of 45 to 55 kmph with gusts to 65 kmph is predicted per the prediction.

In its bulletin, the IMD advised fishermen not to go near the Westcentral Arabian Sea, Southeast Bay of Bengal, and North Andaman Sea throughout the course of the next five days.
