The Supreme Court exonerated four individuals who were convicted in a case because it was held that the evidence against them was untrustworthy since the police could have fraudulently implicated them.

According to a Bench of Justices BR Gavai, Vikram Nath, and Sanjay Karol, the police may have accidently murdered the victim while attempting to capture him and, in order to conceal their errors, they created the case against the accused after learning of their animosity towards the dead.
