According to a press release from Afghanistan’s General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI), security personnel there have begun operations against a suspected Daesh or hardline Islamic State (IS) stronghold outside Kabul.
Two members of the armed organisation were killed during the operations that began in the province’s Bagrami area on Friday night, according to the Xinhua news agency.
The press release claimed that no citizens or security officers were hurt throughout the lengthy operations.
Over the last several months, Afghan security forces have conducted operations in Kabul and the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif, killing more than a dozen alleged IS members.
