Mumbai: Ad. Manisha Kayande, a member of the Legislative Assembly, has joined the Shiv Sena under the leadership of Eknath Shinde, leaving the Thackeray group. This is seen as a major setback for the Thackeray faction on the eve of Shiv Sena’s Foundation Day. However, due to Kayande’s defection, Shiv Sena supporters have become agitated. The photo of Manisha Kayande was removed from the banner under Thackeray’s banner.

Today is the 57th Foundation Day celebration of the Shiv Sena, which is why the Thackeray group has organized a celebration at Shanmukhananda Hall in Mumbai. Outside Shanmukhananda Hall, the Thackeray group’s banner display can be seen. The banners feature photos of stalwarts like Balasaheb Thackeray, Uddhav Thackeray, Aaditya Thackeray, and Divakar Ravate.
Local branch chief Sandeep Chivate has put up flex banners. However, some local officials have removed the photo of Manisha Kayande from these banners.
Meanwhile, before Kayande’s entry, Uddhav Thackeray had taken significant action. Manisha Kayande’s spokesperson had issued a statement before her expulsion. Khasdar Vinayak Raut had provided information about this action. The action taken against Kayande’s opposition had been suspended.
Who is Manisha Kayande?
Before joining the Shiv Sena, Manisha Kayande was active in the Bharatiya Janata Party. In 1997, she contested the municipal council election but faced defeat in the final moments due to receiving the candidacy. In 2009, she contested the election from Sion Koliwada on a BJP ticket. She faced defeat in that as well.
After working in the BJP for 25 years, she joined the Shiv Sena under Uddhav Thackeray’s leadership in 2012. In 2014, she was entrusted with the responsibility of spokesperson by the Shiv Sena. In 2018, Uddhav Thackeray gave her a ticket for the Legislative Assembly.
Being nominated to the Legislative Assembly was a major turning point in Manisha Kayande’s political journey. Since then, she has been recognized as one of the aggressive leaders of the Shiv Sena. She served as a member of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s Education Committee for 11 years.
Now, with her entry into the Shiv Sena under the leadership of Eknath Shinde, the Shinde group has gained a significant number in the Legislative Assembly.
