In Uttar Pradesh, no religious celebrations would be permitted to block traffic on roadways during the approaching holidays of Parshuram Jayanti, Akshay Tritya, and Eid.
All district authorities in the state have been instructed to make sure that religious events take place inside and that nobody is permitted to obstruct traffic.
During a virtual review meeting, Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad and Special Director General of Police (SDGP) Prashant Kumar issued instructions to all field officers, including ADGs, Inspector Generals and Deputy Inspector Generals, district police chiefs, Divisional Commissioners and District Magistrates (DMs).
All field officials have to make sure that religious events only take place where they are authorised, per Prasad’s request.
“Under no circumstances could a religious gathering include blocking traffic or the road. In the past, effective cooperation and communication have allowed us to do this. We must also exert same effort this year, he said.
The authorities have been instructed to prevent any religious procession without first obtaining authorization and to be on the lookout for bogus news or anything disseminated on social media that might offend people.
“Our main duty is to ensure the safety of the public. On April 22, Eid ul-Fitr, Akshaya Tritiya, and Parshuram Jayanti may all be observed simultaneously. The police will need to exercise greater caution in light of the current situation, according to Prasad.
Prashant Kumar, a Special DGP, advised regular police patrols to improve the state’s peace and order situation. “We need to watch out for any suspicious activity. Every significant event must be recorded on video, he said, adding that infamous individuals will face heavy punishment.
R.K. Vishwakarma, director general of police, also examined how district, range, and zonal officers had been preparing for the approaching holidays.
