NSA Ajit Doval reaffirmed the nation’s long-standing attitude on the war at the high table convened in Jeddah to explore a way out, saying that Modi-led India would continue to be an engaged and willing partner to find a comprehensive and long-lasting solution.

Nearly 40 nations, including members of the BRICS, with the exception of Russia, sent delegations to two days of discussions on the Ukraine conflict that Saudi Arabia sponsored in Jeddah. The purpose of the discussion was to talk about a route to peace with an emphasis on maintaining the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.

Doval emphasized that India supports the world order based on values entrenched in the UN Charter and international law and said that India has frequently engaged with Russia and Ukraine since the start of the war. He insisted that every state must uphold the sovereignty and territorial integrity of every other state without fail.

Doval emphasized that in order to establish a fair and lasting settlement, all peace initiatives including all parties must be undertaken. India attended the summit in Jeddah with this attitude in mind.

The Indian National Security Advisor emphasized how the poor world suffers the burden of the conflict and said that there is no other way to achieve peace but through communication and diplomacy.

Doval said that there are two challenges the summit must address: how to resolve the issue and how to mitigate its effects. He said, “Efforts must be focused on both fronts concurrently, and much more groundwork is required to ensure this.”

Despite no formal proclamation being made public, several significant areas of consensus were established. Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, promoted his 10-point peace plan, which included the complete withdrawal of Russian forces from Ukrainian territory and the restoration of Ukraine’s boundaries, including those including Crimea.

The informal negotiations in Copenhagen were followed by the Jeddah summit, both of which aimed to involve diverse nations in settling the Ukraine conflict.
