India Will Conduct A Training Camp In Preparation For The Asia Cup In 2023, And A New Captain Is Likely For Ireland’s T20Is: Report

Prior to the Asia Cup 2023, the Indian cricket squad will participate in a training camp, and head coach Rahul Dravid allegedly wants all participants to be present.

The change implies that Hardik Pandya, who is anticipated to be a member of the Asia Cup team, may not play in the T20I series in Ireland, which concludes days before the commencement of the training camp, which is anticipated to take place in the last week of August.

For the Ireland T20I series, the team management will thus need to choose a new captain, which might result in Jasprit Bumrah returning after a protracted injury layoff during which he had back surgery earlier this year.

This year’s Asia Cup will take place in Pakistan and Sri Lanka from August 30 to September 17 will be contested in a one-day format.

Pakistan will host four games, including the tournament’s opening match, while Sri Lanka will host the final and the other nine games. The first game between India and Nepal is scheduled for September 4 at Pallekele.

Prior to it, India will play three Twenty20 Internationals in Ireland from August 18 to August 23.

Prior to that, India will play West Indies in a five-match T20I series beginning on August 3 with Pandya serving as captain.

India recently won 1-0 in a two-match series against the West Indies to kick off their most recent ICC World Test Championship campaign.

Now, the trip enters its ODI phase, which will consist of a three-match series beginning on Thursday in Barbados. Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, Sanju Samson, and Kuldeep Chahal are just a few of the players who have joined the ODI team.

The series serves as India’s training for the ODI World Cup in 2023, which they will also host for the first time since the MS Dhoni-led team won the tournament in 2011.
