Since its debut in 2020, the Indian Premier League has seen some incredible comebacks and a ton of thrilling matches. The Indian franchise cricket league has seen it everything, from some impressive performances to heart-pounding thrillers. However, one of the strangest but most exciting nights in sports entertainment occurred on October 18, 2020.

While Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad competed in a super-over the same afternoon, it was the nighttime game that saw the setting of a special record. On the night, Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings (formerly known as Kings XI Punjab) couldn’t be separated; it took two super overs to decide who would win.

Two Super Overs were played in the same game for the first time ever during the match, which took place at the Dubai International Stadium.

The Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians won the toss and decided to bat first on this historic day. Rohit and Suryakumar Yadav left the game after Mumbai lost early wickets, both for nine runs and a duck, respectively. Quinton de Kock, a wicketkeeper-batsman for South Africa, helped his team’s innings by making a half-century during the contest.

Kieron Pollard hit four sixes at the close of the innings, taking his total to 34 runs in 12 balls. Despite losing six wickets, Mumbai managed to score a respectable 176 runs thanks to his heroics.

Mohammed Shami of Punjab, who took two wickets while allowing only 30 runs in his four-over performance, emerged as the first innings’ most significant bowler.

Although Arshdeep Singh was the most costly bowler for Punjab with 35 runs in three overs, he was also successful in removing two Mumbai hitters.

Punjab’s chase effort in the second part of the game was led by KL Rahul. In only 51 balls, he scored an astounding 77 runs while smashing seven boundaries and three sixes. Before getting struck out by Jasprit Bumrah in the 18th over of the innings, the star batsman continued to play.

Mayank Agarwal and Nicholas Pooran’s wickets have already been taken by the Mumbai spinner previously. Deepak Hooda scored an undefeated 23 runs in 16 balls in the conclusion of the innings to assist his team tie the game.

KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran took up the batting responsibilities for Punjab in the first Super up, leaving Mumbai to bowl first. Both players in the over were taken out by Bumrah, who limited them to just five runs overall.

As he attempted to defend his team’s score against Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock, Mohammad Shami carried the whole burden. A second Super Over resulted after his excellent effort, which saw him restrict Mumbai for five runs. This time, Mumbai scored 11 runs in their first over.

an antique Chris Gayle came through for Punjab in their chase, smashing a six and two boundaries to seal the Kings’ victory.
