On Sunday night, the ruling JMM-led coalition returned its leaders to Ranchi after secluding its MLAs in a Hyderabad resort to stop poaching. The coalition’s action, according to the BJP, betrayed a lack of confidence.

- Amidst accusations of intentional postponement by the governor, Champai Soren established a government. 43 MLAs out of the 81 members of the Jharkhand Assembly have reportedly endorsed him. With AJSU’s three MLAs and the BJP’s 26 MLAs, the BJP-led NDA has 29 MLAs in the assembly.
- Following Hemant Soren’s arrest by the ED on January 31 in connection with an alleged land fraud case, close aide Champai Soren approached the governor with the support of forty-three MLAs. Nonetheless, a few MLAs remain members of the coalition while not signing the letter of support.
- Several JMM MLAs who opposed Champai Soren reportedly chose not to take part in the floor test.
- Hemant Soren, the former chief minister of Jharkhand, was granted permission by a special court in Ranchi on Saturday to leave jail on Monday and participate in the floor test voting procedure.
- JMM-led alliance MLAs arrived in Ranchi with confidence that they would win the trust vote, saying they had the backing of 48 to 50 legislators. According to JMM member Mithilesh Thakur, a few BJP MLAs in the state are also in favour of the “Mahagathbandhan.”
- Biranchi Narain, the top whip of the BJP, predicted that the coalition formed by the JMM would not win the vote of confidence. He claimed that the MLAs in Hyderabad were not confident in their chances of victory because they were constantly monitored.
- The alliance’s concern that the BJP would try to “poach” the JMM-led alliance MLAs in the days leading up to the trust vote is why they were flown in two aircraft. The MLAs had spent the previous three days at a resort in Hyderabad.
- On Sunday, JMM MLA Lobin Hembrom expressed disapproval of the decision to host the MLAs at an opulent resort in Hyderabad. Hembrom will, according to the JMM leadership, vote in favour of the coalition administration.
