Schools in the districts of Kannur, Wayanad, and Kozhikode will be closed on Monday as a result of the orange warning that was issued for Kerala on Sunday.
For Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kasargod, the India Meteorological Department issued an orange warning; for Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, Thrissur, and Malappuram, they issued a yellow alert.
PSC examinations at Kannur University are still set, according to an official announcement.
On Sunday, the IMD issued an orange signal for Goa, Karnataka, the Konkan, and Kerala. On July 23, they stated that rainfall in Kannur, Kasargod, Wayanad, and Kozhikode ranged from heavy to extremely heavy.
For Kerala and Lakshwadeep islands, the IMD has issued a warning of heavy rains for five days starting on July 23, and the fishermen in both locations have been advised against it. According to IMD, fishermen are urged not to enter the water until July 27.
As stated in the IMD advisory, “Heavy rainfall (7cm to 11cm in 24 hours) is very likely to occur at isolated places in Kerala from July 24th to July 27th 2023.”
Additionally, according to the IMD, “Squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-45 Kmph gusting to 55 Kmph is likely to prevail over Kerala-Karnataka coast and Lakshadweep area, Andhra Pradesh Coast, and Westcentral Bay of Bengal.”
