In Kerala’s Kozhikode district, one new Nipah infection case has been identified.
The 39-year-old man’s tests tested positive for the Nipah virus, according to a statement sent by the office of state health minister Veena George on Friday.
He was being watched at a medical facility.
He had previously sought care at a private hospital where Nipah-positive patients were attended to for other illnesses, according to a statement from the facility.
This brings the overall number of Nipah cases in Kozhikode to six.
