Krishna Janmabhoomi Case: HC Requests Respondents To Submit A Response In 10 Days In Petition For Transfer Of Action

The Sri Krishna Janambhoomi case, which is currently being heard by the Mathura court, was transferred to the high court in a petition filed on Wednesday. The Allahabad High Court stated that the matter should not be “unnecessarily prolonged” and ordered all respondents to submit their responses within ten days.

In this instance, property on which Shahi Idgah mosque is located has been claimed by Hindu worshippers as their own.

The court set the next hearing date for the matter as April 4, 2023.

It is made clear that the matter, which requires expeditious and quick disposal, should not be unnecessarily prolonged, Justice Arvind Kumar Mishra said after hearing a transfer petition submitted by Bhagwan Shrikrishna Virajman at Katra Keshav Dev Khewat Mathura (deity) through Ranjana Agnihotri and seven others. During the time frame outlined above, the respondents must exchange their pleas. The court ordered the respondents—the Management Committee of the Shahi Masjid Idgah next to the Krishna Janambhoomi temple, the Shri Krishna Janambhoomi Trust, Katra Keshav Dev, Deeg Gate, Mathura, and the Shreekrishna Janm Sthan Sewa Sansthan, Katra Keshav Dev, Deeg Gate, Mathura—to submit their respective replies within a 10-day window.

The high court sent notice to each respondent in this lawsuit on February 1, 2023.

Nevertheless, the court discovered that no answer had yet been made when the matter was resumed on Wednesday.

As the Idgah mosque was built after Hindu temples were destroyed and since no Waqf was ever established and no land was ever set aside for the mosque’s construction, the applicants filed a civil complaint before the civil court (senior division) seeking a declaration and an injunction.
