On Sunday, the G7 invited leaders and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid floral respects at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park in Japan.
While the invited nations were on route to pay respects to the victims of Hiroshima, Prime Minister Modi was observed having a short talk with Australian PM Anthony Albanese. PM Modi is in Japan to participate in the G7 conference there. At the request of his Japanese counterpart, Fumio Kishida, the prime minister is traveling to East Asia.
In its capacity as the G7’s current chair, Japan is hosting the meeting. From May 19 to May 21, PM Modi will be in Hiroshima for the G7 conference.
Earlier on Saturday, Prime Minister Modi met with his Japanese counterpart, Fumio Kishida, in a bilateral setting to review the whole of India-Japan ties. The two leaders also spoke about the G20 and G7 key areas for India and Japan, respectively, with regard to improving the world.
The two presidents spoke about how to coordinate the work of the G-20 and G-7 presidencies, respectively. The Prime Minister emphasized the need to draw attention to the issues and concerns of the Global South.
The G7 Summit is an annual gathering of the heads of state of the European Union (EU), France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Italy, and Canada (in that order, according to the rotation of the G7 chair).
Leaders from Australia, Brazil, Comoros, Cook Islands, India, Indonesia, South Korea, and Vietnam were invited by Japan as part of their G7 Presidency.
