Tushar Gandhi, the great grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, said that on August 9, while leaving his home to participate in a silent march to August Kranti Maidan, he was held at the Santa Cruz Police Station. The occasion was conducted in honor of the Quit India movement’s 81st anniversary.

“As I went home to observe Quit India Day on August 9th, I was held at Santa Cruz Police Station for the first time in Independent India’s history. Tushar Gandhi said on Twitter, “I am glad that My Great Grandparents Bapu and Ba were also detained by the British Police on the historic occasion.

Tushar said in his response to comments on his article, “Our silent March to August Kranti Maidan is seen as a threat to law and order.”

Campaign to Leave India

The movement represents a significant turning point in India’s history of resistance to British rule. Mahatma Gandhi’s cry for immediate independence served as the catalyst for the movement’s inception in August 1942 at Mumbai’s Gowalia Tank, which eventually became known as August Kranti Maidan as a result of its connection to the momentous date.

Around 1,000 people were murdered and more than 2,500 were injured throughout the movement, while more than 100,000 people were jailed and arrested. After influential figures like Gandhi and Nehru were imprisoned by the British, the movement lost its momentum. The movement, however, is seen as a crucial milestone towards India’s independence from British domination.

This morning, people went to the August Kranti Maidan and left flower tributes at the Gandhi Smruti Stambh. This is the location where Mahatma Gandhi issued his famous “do-or-die” demand for freedom.

Modi recalls the action

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday that India is now speaking with one voice against corruption, dynasticism, and appeasement, recalling the Mahatma Gandhi-inspired Quit India campaign.

“Honors for the legends who participated in the Quit India Movement. He said in a tweet that this Movement, led by Gandhi Ji, was instrumental in releasing India from colonial tyranny.

Nevertheless, Modi reportedly took a shot at the newly formed opposition coalition when he remarked, “Today, India is screaming in one voice: Corruption Quit India. India has lost Dynasty. Reconciliation Leave India. Modi has consistently urged people to avoid opposition parties, charging that they are engaged in corrupt, dynastic, and appeasement politics.

The discussion of the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday included allusions to “politics of corruption and dynasty.” BJP MP Nishikant Dubey had said, “This No Confidence Motion has been brought. Exactly why was this brought up? Sonia Gandhi is now seated here. She has to, in my opinion, do both Bete ko set karna hai and Damad ko bhent karna hai.The foundation of this Motion is that.

A minute of silence was held by Lok Sabha members on the second day of the discussion in honor of the freedom fighters and to remember the 1942 Quit India Movement. In remembrance of the historic event, BJP lawmakers demonstrated in front of the legislative building. This day is significant. Gandhiji requested that the British leave India in 1942, and now we are requesting the same thing from corruption, nepotism, and appeaement, according to BJP MP Manoj Tiwari.
