Eight people have now died as a result of the Bhiwandi building collapse in Maharashtra’s Thane district, according to authorities, who announced this news on Monday.
It took approximately 48 hours for the two corpses to be found following the incident. According to the authorities, the task of removing the debris went on for a third day.
On the first and second floors of the ground plus three story residential/commercial structure, there were a number of godowns, and on the top two levels, there were at least four families.
It was built in 2014, and on Saturday at 1:45 p.m., it abruptly fell at Wardhaman Compound in the Mankoli neighbourhood on the fringes of the power loom town.
The first significant pre-monsoon building accident in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region region, which resulted in another six injuries and more than a dozen rescues, has now left no one unaccounted for, according to the authorities.
The relatives of each dead person will get an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh, and all wounded victims will receive free medical care, according to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
