Two days after going missing, a nine-year-old girl’s severely decomposed corpse was found in the water tank of a building close to her home in Maharashtra’s Thane district, police said on Friday.
The corpse of the April 3 missing Bhiwandi tehsil girl was discovered on Wednesday, according to authorities.
“The child had left her home to get eggs from a supermarket close to Amjadia School in her neighborhood. She did not, however, go back home after that. Despite their best efforts, her family members were unable to locate her. A missing person’s complaint was then made, according to a Shanti Nagar police station employee in Bhiwandi.
The girl’s corpse was discovered in the water tank of a nearby building, according to information the police learned while conducting their investigation. The corpse was located in a very decomposed form in the water tank, and the occupants told the police that they examined it after smelling something horrible.
He said that the deceased was taken to a government hospital by the police for a post-mortem.
The police have opened a case of abduction after the finding of the corpse, and an investigation into the crime is ongoing.
