A case has been registered against a female teacher of a private school in Maharashtra’s Thane city for allegedly hitting a six-year-old Class I student on his head. The incident took place on Monday and a case was registered on Friday against the teacher of New English School, Vitawa, Kalwa.
The officer of Kalwa police station said, “On August 21, the child’s mother had gone to the school to bring her son back home. At that time, his class teacher told her that the boy was not studying well and the parents had to ensure that his homework has been completed.”
After dinner, the boy’s mother noticed some swelling and some dried blood on his head. On being asked, he told that the teacher hit him on the head due to which the injury occurred. His mother immediately asked her teacher about this, but the teacher could not give a proper answer. The officer said, “The next day the boy’s parents lodged a police complaint against the teacher. They told the police that the same teacher had pushed their son to the ground earlier in the recent past. They told the police that Since they do not want any such incident to recur in future, they are lodging the complaint.”
The police officer said that the police sent the child to the hospital run by the Municipal Corporation of Kalwa where he was given first aid. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against the teacher under Indian Penal Code section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, police said. He said that the accused has not been arrested and the investigation is on.
